Troubleshooting & FAQContent Not Updating

Content Not Updating

You changed a playlist or schedule, but the screen still shows the old content. Here’s how to find out why.

Did you publish?

Edits to playlists, layouts, and schedules are saved as drafts until you click Publish. Look for the Unpublished changes badge at the top of the editor.

Is the screen online?

Changes are pushed instantly to online screens and picked up within 60 seconds by polling otherwise. If the screen is offline it keeps playing its cached content until it reconnects — see Screen is offline.

Is the new media still downloading?

Players finish downloading a media item before showing it, so the previous content keeps playing in the meantime. Open Screens → screen → Sync to see download progress. A 4K video over a slow link can take a while — compress it, or upload ahead of time.

Is another schedule winning?

Open Screens → screen → Now playing. It shows which schedule is active and why. Remember the priority order:

  1. Emergency override
  2. Higher priority number (1–10, 10 wins)
  3. More specific target — a screen-level schedule beats a group-level one
  4. Most recently published

See Priorities & conflicts.

Is the schedule actually active right now?

Check the schedule’s date range, days of week, and time window. Times are evaluated in the screen’s time zone, not yours. If the device clock is wrong, dayparts switch at the wrong time — make sure NTP (UDP 123) is reachable.

Has the media item expired?

Playlist items can have a validity window. An item outside its window is skipped silently. Check the item’s start/end dates in the playlist editor.

Force a refresh

If everything above looks right, send Refresh content from Remote commands. If that doesn’t help, try Clear cache (forces a full re-download) and then Restart player.

Clear cache re-downloads every media item. On a slow or metered connection, run it outside opening hours.

Web pages show stale data

Web page items and widgets are rendered live, but some sites send long cache headers. Set a Refresh interval on the web page item, or append a cache-busting query string to the URL.
