ChromeOS
Veyli Player runs as a kiosk app on Chromeboxes and other ChromeOS devices running ChromeOS 110 or later. Devices are managed centrally through the Google Admin console, which makes this a good fit for schools and organisations already using Google Workspace.
Requirements
- A ChromeOS device enrolled in your Google Workspace / Chrome Enterprise domain
- A Kiosk & Signage Upgrade or Chrome Enterprise Upgrade licence for each device
- Admin access to admin.google.com
Install
Create an organisational unit
In the Google Admin console, create an OU (for example Signage) and move your signage devices into it.
Add Veyli Player as a kiosk app
Go to Devices → Chrome → Apps & extensions → Kiosks, select the Signage OU, click + → Add by URL and enter:
https://play.veyli.cloud/chromeosSet it to auto-launch
In the same Kiosks page, set Auto-launch app to Veyli Player. Devices in the OU boot directly into the player.
Pair the screen
The player shows a 6-character pairing code. In app.veyli.cloud go to Screens → Add screen, enter the code, name the screen and choose its screen group and timezone. See Pair your first screen.
Recommended kiosk policies
Under Devices → Chrome → Settings → Device for the signage OU:
| Policy | Value |
|---|---|
| Kiosk device status alerting | On |
| Screen rotation | Leave at 0° — set rotation in the Veyli dashboard |
| Power management (idle) | Do not sleep |
| Auto-update settings | Restrict to a maintenance window outside opening hours |
| Scheduled reboot | Weekly, outside opening hours |
Because Veyli Player is a managed kiosk app, it updates automatically on device reboot. No manual updates are needed.
Offline caching
- The player caches media in kiosk app storage, up to 80% of free storage.
- Chromeboxes typically have 32–64 GB of storage, so keep large video libraries lean.
- The player keeps playing its schedule indefinitely while offline.
Tips
- Screenshots: the Take screenshot remote command works on ChromeOS 110+.
- Reboots: Reboot works only if the kiosk app is allowed to restart the device — enable Allow kiosk app to control ChromeOS version in the kiosk settings.
- Network: push Wi‑Fi or 802.1X configurations through Admin console Networks before shipping devices to sites.
