Android
Veyli Player runs on Android 7.0 (API 24) and later — media sticks, set-top boxes, and Android-based commercial displays. Devices with at least 2 GB RAM and hardware video decoding give the best results.
Install
Google Play
- Open the Google Play Store on the device.
- Search for Veyli Player and tap Install.
- Open the app once installation completes.
Pair the screen
Launch Veyli Player
On first launch the player shows a 6-character pairing code in large type.
Add the screen in the dashboard
In app.veyli.cloud , go to Screens → Add screen and enter the code.
Name it and choose a group
Give the screen a name, pick its screen group and timezone, then click Pair. The player starts downloading its content within seconds.
See Pair your first screen for the full walkthrough.
Kiosk and auto-start settings
Grant permissions
When prompted, allow Display over other apps and Storage. These let the player relaunch itself and cache media.
Set Veyli Player as the home app
Press the Home button and choose Veyli Player → Always. The device now boots straight into the player, and Home can’t be used to exit.
Disable sleep
In Settings → Display, set screen timeout to the maximum (or Never on signage devices). Turn off any daydream / screen saver.
Lock the device (optional)
Open the player’s settings (tap the top-right corner five times, then enter the device PIN you set in the dashboard) and enable Kiosk lock to block status bar and back gestures.
For fleets, enroll devices in an Android Enterprise / MDM solution and push Veyli Player as a dedicated device (COSU) app. The player respects lock-task mode.
Offline caching
- Media is cached in the app’s internal storage, capped at 80% of free storage by default.
- If you use an SD card, choose Settings → Storage location → External in the player.
- The player keeps playing its last-known schedule indefinitely while offline.
Tips
- Scheduled reboots: many Android boxes become sluggish after weeks of uptime. Use the Reboot command or set a weekly reboot window on the screen.
- 4K output: cheap sticks often render the UI at 1080p even on a 4K display. Check Settings → Display → Resolution.
- Battery optimisation: exclude Veyli Player from battery optimisation so Android doesn’t kill it in the background.
- Playback stuttering? See Playback issues.
