Dayparting
Dayparting means showing different content at different times of day — breakfast vs lunch menus, commuter vs evening ads, school hours vs after-school notices.
Example: a café menu board
| Daypart | Days | Time | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breakfast | Mon–Sun | 06:00–11:00 | Breakfast menu |
| Lunch | Mon–Fri | 11:00–15:00 | Lunch menu |
| Weekend brunch | Sat–Sun | 11:00–15:00 | Brunch menu |
| Afternoon | Mon–Sun | 15:00–19:00 | Coffee & cakes |
| Closed | — | otherwise | Default content: Brand loop |
Set it up
Create one playlist per daypart
Build the playlists first (see Playlists).
Use a daypart template (optional)
Under Schedules → Dayparts define named time blocks once — Breakfast 06:00–11:00, Lunch 11:00–15:00 — and reuse them in any schedule. Changing a daypart’s hours updates every schedule that uses it.
Add one entry per daypart
In your schedule, add an entry for each row of the table above. Adjacent entries (one ending at 11:00, the next starting at 11:00) switch over seamlessly.
Switch-over behaviour
At a daypart boundary the player finishes the current item (up to 30 seconds) and then switches, so videos aren’t cut mid-frame. Enable Switch immediately on an entry if exact timing matters more — for example, a happy-hour price change.
Per-item dayparting is also possible inside a playlist: set Days & hours on an individual item to show it only at certain times without creating a separate schedule.
