Media Library

The Media library stores every file, URL and widget your screens can play.

Supported formats

TypeFormatsMax sizeNotes
ImageJPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG50 MBAnimated GIFs loop for the item’s duration
VideoMP4 (H.264, H.265/HEVC), WebM (VP9)4 GBUp to 3840×2160 (4K). Max resolution depends on the player hardware
PDFPDF100 MBEach page becomes a slide; set a per-page duration

HEVC (H.265) and 4K playback are not supported by every device — older Android sticks and Raspberry Pi 4 in particular. If in doubt, use H.264 MP4 at 1080p, 30 fps, ≤ 15 Mbps: it plays everywhere. See Playback issues.

Storage

Uploaded media counts towards your plan’s storage: 1 GB (Free), 25 GB (Starter), 250 GB (Pro), custom on Enterprise. Usage is shown at the bottom of the Media page. Deleting media frees space immediately.

Uploading

Upload

Drag files onto Media, or click Upload. To add a web page, choose Upload → Web page and paste the URL.

Processing

Veyli validates each file, generates a thumbnail and reads video duration and resolution. Files with unsupported codecs are flagged with a warning.

Replace without re-publishing

To update a file that’s already in playlists, open it and click Replace file. Every playlist using it picks up the new version on the next sync — no need to edit playlists.

Folders and tags

  • Folders group media hierarchically (Brands / Acme / 2026). An item lives in one folder.
  • Tags are free-form labels (promo, menu, portrait). An item can have many tags.
  • Search filters by name, tag, type, orientation and upload date.

Admins can restrict an Editor to specific folders — for example, a franchise owner sees only their own brand’s folder.

Validity windows

Every media item can have an optional start and end date. Outside that window the item is skipped automatically in every playlist — perfect for promotions that must disappear at midnight on the last day.

Usage

Before deleting media, open it and check Used in — it lists every playlist and layout that references it. Deleting media that’s in use removes it from those playlists.
